Assignment#1 505 Journal BLOG BIO/Intro
Who are you?
Hi everyone! My name is Jasmine and I'm a designer who is interested in graphic design and UX/UI design.
What inspires/wow's you?
Various aspects in my environment give me inspiration. I find a lot of inspiration through colors and learning about different social issues in our communities. I believe that people carry different hardships/stories. As creatives we utilize our craft to help and uplift voices for those in need of equal representation and support. In previous projects, I liked using colors to bring meaning and a unique tone to the design.
Who or what are your influences?
My biggest influence is a UX designer named Christine Chun who has showcased her work and journey as a UX designer over the course of the years that I've been in college. Her journey from finding and building her career in design, and teaching and inspiring other designers has influenced me to persevere through my struggles I face as a creative.
What is your vision or hope in your life(time)?
My hope is to learn to become a better designer through hard skills and building empathy and inclusiveness through my work. As a UX/UI designer, I want to learn how to do effective UX research to provide equal representation in process in building a product that will best cater to the user audience.

Proposed "preliminary" 505 project topic+problem+purpose:
1. Hiking Experience App
Problem: Trekkers from all over the world experience fear and confusion in venturing in various spots in different hiking locations due to a lack of information, network, and trekking services in the local area.
Purpose: Producing a platform that will guide and show users different routes, local hotels, and restaurants in the trekking region.
2. Promotion of Healthy Eating & Well-Being
Problem: With millions of people struggling with various health issues (e.g. high blood pressure and obesity), many carry a lack of resources and awareness on essential foods and how they're grown in order to maintain a healthy nutritional consumption for all.
Purpose: To promote healthy eating for our well-being, producing graphic designs that will chart and promote community farming and better nutritional health will bring the awareness and encouragement to practice a nutritional diet.
3. Educational Environmental Coloring Book
Problem: The lack of proper education on current environmental issues are affecting communities on a political and environmental level, and how our youth can understand how to take actions on our current environmental issues.
Purpose: To promote better education and aware on our environmental issues, designing a coloring book can be a fun, interactive way to educate the youth and encourage them to discover ways to live more sustainably.

I definitely experience that nervousness when hiking, especially in new areas. I have to inspect every map and plant I find to be safe haha
